Watch: 49ers' LB Azeez Al-Shaair Has Insane Game Against The Lions

Brad Graham • September 17, 2021

Al-Shaair put up a seasons worth of highlights in one game.

(Azeez Al-Shaair Week 1 Highlight)

The 49ers' LB stepped up big against the Lions in his week 1 performance compiling 7 total tackles - 2 TFL - 2PD with a lot of the plays coming in big moments.

I will go out on a limb and say Al-Shaair had a better and more impactful game against the Lions than All-Pro LB Fred Warner. That's how good Azeez Al-Shaair was this week, seemingly making play after play in a row -- Al-Shaair was flying all over the field.

With the 49ers losing starting LB Dre Greenlaw, the team will turn to Al-Shaair to repeat the performance he had against the Lions for 6-8 weeks while Greenlaw recovers from a core-muscle injury.

All things considered, it is tough to lose a player like Dre Greenlaw but it is not often that the back-up is just as talented as the starter.

Azeez looks to turn in a breakout year in 2021.
