As you can see in the above clip, these traits shown by Trey Lance show exactly why he was selected #3 overall in last years NFL draft by the 49ers. The ability to play outside the structure of the play and still be lethally accurate downfield is exciting and impressive for the 21 year old.
The physical tools shown in the above clip epitomizes why you spend high on elite traits like the one's Trey Lance possess.

Here we see Trey Lance rolling out to his right and delivering a strike with perfect accuracy while on the move.
These types of traits are very hard to defend because even if you defend the play well, Trey can break the structure of the play by rolling out and using the threat of his legs to force defenders to worry about him tucking and running, while then being able to deliver a dagger over the top.
This keeps defenses in a constant state of conflict based on their responsibilities which is exactly what you want in today's NFL.
Trey Day
Cleary, these clips have helped steer the narrative that "Trey Lance isn't ready" into a different direction.
That being said, Lance may still have some maturing to do as a leader of men as he is only 21 years old and is to be expected, but it's clear as day from what we have seen in 10 QTR's in 2021 and some of these practice clips, Lance has all the ability in the world to be "that guy".
Now, it will be dependent on the 49ers' coaching staff in nurturing the young signal caller and bringing the best out of the kid by developing and refining his traits because it appears Tom Brady won't be walking though that door anytime soon...
