*The QB's have entered the chat*
Trevor Lawerence is firmly planted at #1 and has been since he was a high schooler. This kid has earned the term 'Generational Talent' up to this point in his career. He's prepared to put a franchise on his shoulders and lead them to a likely championship. Let's just hope the Jags build a strong group around him.
QB2 - Justin Fields - Ohio State
In many other previous draft classes, Justin Fields would have been the hands down #1 overall pick. This time around, he has the unfortunate luck of coming out the same year as TLaw. And him being QB2 doesn't make him any less of a player. All I can see when I watch Fields is Russel Wilson. To me, he is Russ 2.0 with the desired size.
QB3 - Zach Wilson - BYU
Zach Wilson is only at #3 because he just so happens to be coming out with some amazing talent. Just because he is third on this list, doesn't make him any less talented. I love Zach Wilson for all the opposite reason I love Justin Fields. Zach is a true 'gun-slinger' and play-maker. I also love his mental make-up, he will thrive is he lands in the right situation but I do have concerns if he lands in a place that doesn't cater to his mental disorder (ADHD).
QB4 - Mac Jones - Alabama
Mac Jones has turned in a truly amazing year. Alabama QB's get a bad wrap because Bama QB's typically have the best weapons in the country and when they go on to the NFL, they don't seem to stick. I feel Mac Jones is different. A model for consistency, accuracy, and a canon for an arm. I like Jones here at #4 to start the process. Will be interesting if he can hold this ground through the process.
QB5 - Desmond Ridder - Cincinnati
Desmond came onto to my radar late in the season so this is really just a first impression ranking. I have plenty of study left to do but I really liked my first impression of him. As someone who followed Deshaun Watson's game very closely, Deshaun was the first person to come to my mind when watching Ridder. He has a knack for keeping plays alive and pushing the ball down field with accuracy, very similarly to how Deshaun creates opportunities for himself.
QB6 - Trey Lance - North Dakota State
When it comes to the QB position, recency bias is extremely prevalent. So when a top QB like Trey Lance decides to sit the 2020 season, it takes eyes off of him and puts them on the other prospects. That is the only reason he is at #6. His arm talent is electric. He runs like Derek Henry from the QB position. The only questions I have right now are, can he play consistent form the pocket and execute consistently from play-action. He will likely be a big time riser this draftszn. I expect him to be in the #3/#4 conversation by the end of the year.
QB7 - Kyle Trask - Florida
You will hear me talk a lot about 'vibe' and 'energy' this season, specifically when it comes to the QB position. Although Kyle is talented and truly has a good arm, I just don't like his vibe. Now, more tape study can cure this but for now, I get all the Trubisky-vibes. He is already one of the most polarizing QB prospects. It will be fascinating to watch him move through this process.
