Mock Draft 2.0
Now that the Super Bowl is over, IT’S MOCK DRAFT SZN!

TheSFNiners are on the clock!
We have our first trade of the Mock Draft SZN!
The Trade:
The Patriots and 49ers make a trade and Belichick gets his QB, it’s just not Jimmy.
The 49ers are able to acquire additional 2nd and 3rd round picks to help bolster the roster with solid talent by just dropping a few spots back. With Trey Lance available at 12, half the league would be calling about a potential trade to acquire the Mahomes look-alike.
Reminder: this is a Mock trade and not representative of what I think will happen
Azeez has quickly become one of my favorite prospects in this class.
I went into this offseason understanding that Dee Ford likely won’t return based on the bloated contract + injury concerns. Yet, I still prioritize defensive pressures as arguably the most important metric for a successful defense.

@GrahamTSFN made a great point when we were talking last night about how difficult it was for opposing offensive lines when Ford and Bosa were on the field together, and Ford was at 9T
— Jordan (Azeez Ojulari Fan) (@splash_cousin) February 2, 2021
Azeez Ojulari out of Georgia is someone who I think could thrive in that speed rusher role pic.twitter.com/M5fwJSdu5I
Azeez reminds me so much of Carolina Panthers DE Brian Burns, a former draft crush of mine. They both have elite speed off the edge combined with insane bend that allows them to turn the corner with ease. Ojulari arguably has the most skilled hands from any EDGE I have ever scouted.
I am looking for a pure speed rusher and Azeez fits that need 1000%
Pick 44 - Syracuse - CB/S - Ifeatu Melifonwu
Some may recognize the name Melifonwu as Obi, Ifeatu’s brother is already on the roster.
For context, Obi wasn’t one of my favorite prospects but his brother has proven to be one of my favorite DBs in this class. This was solidified at the Senior Bowl as I watched this massive human mirror smaller, faster WRs.
Ifeatu Melifonwu. Don't be scared off by the name! Listen to The Draft Show from Thursday as they talk about him a little. pic.twitter.com/XlJ4vFJm6K

Tremendous click and clock from my guy Ifeatu Melifonwu in off man. pic.twitter.com/k926JlFdXl
— Cory (@realcorykinnan) January 29, 2021
Also, considering that we have run cover 3 & cover 4 zone schemes in the past, I am anticipating that trend will continue with Ryans being promoted to DC.
Melifonwu is a long, rangy, physical corner with great size that can play in both press-man and zone schemes which makes him very valuable in coverage. I also think he can be a starting safety in this league and could slot into that role for the 49ers as well.
Pick 47 - Wisconsin-Whitewater - OL - Quinn Meinerz
Here is a man that needs no introduction if you follow TheSFNiners.
Quinn was the first player I fell in love with at the Senior Bowl. I was immediately drawn to the “big gut energy” that Quinn brought to the field. That same energy was apparent all week in practice, and continued to show during the game on Saturday. He dominated power-5 defensive lineman as a DIII kid who didn’t play in 2020.
Quinn dominated the entire week of Senior Bowl practice from the center and guard position. pic.twitter.com/0q87ANkV1I
— 𝓣𝓱𝓮𝓢𝓕𝓝𝓲𝓷𝓮𝓻𝓼 (@TheSFNiners) February 1, 2021
He showed me everything I could ever want in a starting center/guard for a Kyle Shanahan’s zone scheme. Foot quickness, hands, power, technique, pass-set, toughness. You could use any positive trait when it comes to describing top-tier OL and Quinn likely embodies it.
The hive is buzzin for Quinn Meinerz.
Pick 96 - Divine Deablo - LB/S - Divine Deablo
I try to not repeat picks in mocks as Deablo made Mock 1.0 but after watching him all week at the Senior Bowl, I crushed on him even harder than I already was.
My favorite thing watching Deablo was how the coaches had played him at SAM/WIll LB for the majority of the time and Deablo thrived. As a safety at VT, he was not known as a ball hawking safety, rather a downhill thumper so the transition to LB is a welcomed one.

But he comes up into the box with all those coverage skills and could turn into another great 49ers LB. Drafting Melifonwu and Deablo also gives the defense insane flexibility having those two players on the field at the same time because they can play multiple positions.
Pick 102 - Oklahoma - CB - Tre Brown
I’ve seen Tre Brown taken all over the place in regards to mock drafts but I feel this is an appropriate spot for the former Sooner.
This guy is the polar opposite of the other DB’s I took ahead of him. I feel he is a guy that has the tools to cover twitched WR’s in the NFL but I also feel he has plenty of room for growth.

Tre Brown vs Oklahoma State:
— Cam Mellor (@CamMellor) November 22, 2020
8 targets (a BAD DPI and ugly DH call; and what was the no-call on Wallace shoving him for the 25-yarder?)
2 receptions allowed
37 yards
1 PBU
46.4 passer rating when targeted
Told y'all, @T_Brown25 can ball with the best of 'em pic.twitter.com/RUs30du2WT
From a traits perspective, I could see him as a slot CB as well as an outside CB. One of my favorite attributes he has is ball tracking but he does get in a little trouble sometimes against larger WR’s, even though being in the right position. I feel he can be a guy who continues to grow and get better in the NFL.
Pick 120 - Clemson - WR - Amari Rodgers
I don’t think Amari goes this late but I couldn’t pass this up as he was still on the board.
Ok hear me out . .

— 𝓣𝓱𝓮𝓢𝓕𝓝𝓲𝓷𝓮𝓻𝓼 (@TheSFNiners) January 27, 2021
Amari lit up the Senior Bowl and showed how dynamic of a WR he is. He is a guy who can play outside, slot, put him at RB if you want. He is just that kind of athlete. Surprisingly savage 50/50 ball winner with great routes and feel for seperating from coverage.
This is another guy who you could label as a “Kyle Shanahan guy”.
Pick 173 - Iowa - G/T - Alaric Jackson
Theme of this mock, Senior Bowl standouts and here was another guy who impressed me with his traits.
I was impressed how he worked in 1v1 drills and although he looked light in the pants, you could see the power. I also feel he has a frame that could add more weight which would make him even more dominant.
Player Spotlight -- Iowa LT Alaric Jackson

Ht: 6'6
Wt: 320
Hometown: Detroit, Mi
High School: Renaissance
Jackson is the epitome of a well-rounded offensive lineman: Solid in pass protection and a menace in the run game. Big men shouldn't be able to move the way he does. pic.twitter.com/jCvVTKdZdV
He has the ability to play both guard/tackle which is a big plus. Coming from Iowa, I don't need to worry about technique or mentality as they know how to coach up blocking. I think he could be an eventual starter in this league.
Pick 181 - Houston - WR - Marquez Stevenson
With Deebo, Aiyuk, and Richie James seemingly being the only returning WRs we can currently count on (Jauan Jennings/Jalen Hurd often-injured). To feel comfortable going into the season, I need at least two additional WR’s on this roster to compete for serious snaps.
One thing you know you’re getting with Houston WR Marquez Stevenson: speed. Vertical and YAC threat for days #SeniorBowl pic.twitter.com/PrtKY6jAnI
— Brad Kelly (@BradKelly17) January 27, 2021
Marquez Stevenson has some of the best speed in this class from the WR position. He also proved to me that he can be a legitimate WR and not just a “speed guy”. He was a guy I had my eye on going in and he solidified my thoughts on him.
Pick 198 - Notre Dame - G - Tommy Kraemer
Tommy was a big time high school recruit who didn’t necessarily live up to his 5-star recruit status.

— Matt Freeman (@mattfreemanISD) November 12, 2020
He also doesn’t fit the “Typical” mold of a zone-guard from my standards but I like his ability in pass-pro. Not a very mobile guy, more lumbering and slow footed but a guy I could use in a pinch. I would want him to shed some weight and focus on his foot speed and think he could develop into a serviceable player.
Pick 228 - Kansas - RB - Pooka Williams
I like Pooka “shell” Williams. I am sure you don’t like my nickname for him but I think this kid has real potential to contribute in the NFL.

I get some Phillip Lindsay vibes from Pooka based on his size and vision. I think Pooka is more dynamic than Lindsay coming out and could be a nice piece in the right scheme. I absolutely love his ability to find running lanes and then bursting through it. Pooka would be a great late round flyer after he only played in 4 games in 2020 due to injury.
Trade - 49ers trade 238 to the Football Team for ‘22 6th round pick
49ers come away with 10 rookies and decide to push this 7th round pick to 2022 by turning into a 6th round future.
Let us know what you think!!
