After Jimmy Garoppolo was injured with a reported UCL tear and chipped bone on the thumb of his throwing hand, it was extremely unclear of how serious the injury truly was and how it would impact his playing time moving forward.
It was obviously serious enough to keep him out of a must-win game against the Texans where the former 3rd overall pick in Trey Lance jumped in the drivers seat and lead the team to a 23-7 victory over the Texans.
With another must-win game this weekend against the Rams, a game in which players like Fred Warner are considering it to be a playoff game, the question remains who will be the starting QB? From the video above, you can see Jimmy Garoppolo getting his first throwing session in front of reporters since the injury occurred in week 16. Based on what we see in the video, he looks to be throwing pretty well.
Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media today and said that he would not name his starting QB until the end of the week.
Here are some comments from Jimmy Garoppolo today:

#49ers Jimmy Garoppolo said he felt good before his throwing session yesterday and then woke up this morning and the thumb "didn't feel so hot".

Clearly the thumb isn't at 100% right now.
#49ers Kyle Shanahan won't make the starting QB announcement until he absolutely has to divulged that information

"Feels great, baby"
