Top Day 2 Prospects The 49ers Should Target
Brad Graham • April 30, 2021
Now it's time for the real draft to start.
The hive is buzzing as the 49ers drafted North Dakota State QB Trey Lance with the 3rd overall pick.
However, there are still 6 more rounds of the draft and the 49ers have plenty of picks left. In round two and three, the 49ers will be selecting at #43 & #102, barring any trades.
Let's take a look at the top targets available for the 49ers in round two.
Top Targets for Pick 43
- LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah: I am personally shocked to see JOK fall out of the first. He is a hybrid LB/Slot defender that can play all over the field. His speed is next level and someone will get a stud with this player.
- EDGE Azeez Ojulari: One of my favorite prospects in the class and another shocker to fall out of the first. If the 49ers grabbed Azeez to pair with Bosa/Sosa/Ford -- opposing offensive coordinators better watch out.
- S Trevon Moehrig:
Trevon may actually be my favorite defender in the entire class. His athletic traits and awareness are off the charts. I feel he is a good enough athlete to play CB and thrive. He would be a great asset to add at 43.
- DT Christian Barmore: The 49ers have an opportunity to make their DL extremely stout if they wanted to. Barmore is one of the better IDL in this class and could fit a need that is currently held by guys on one year deals.
- RB Javonte Williams: This kid is a stud and I could absolutely see the 49ers grabbing Javonte here. They were clearly involved with Najee Harris and could still be looking for a guy to compliment Mostert/Wilson. Javonte is a legit 3-down back and has strong ability to catch out of the back field.
- OL Quinn Meinerz:
If the 49ers land Quinn Meinerz I may lose my mind due to excitement. A stud who knows how to burry opposing DL, it would be great to see Quinn on the Niners.
- OL Landon Dickerson:
One of the better OL in this class, he has fallen due to being often injured. If he was not recovering from injury he would have likely been one of the first OL selected in the first round. He can play all 5 spots and is a savage when healthy.
- OL Tevin Jenkins:
I for sure thought Tevin would be a 1st round pick. He may be one of the nastiest tackles in this class. I could see the 49ers taking him as well for key depth/competition at G/T.
- WR Elijah Moore:
The 49ers also have their pick of some top tier talent at WR. Moore is a smaller prospect at 5'9" but that will not stop him from being successful in the NFL. He would be fantastic in this scheme.
- WR Terrace Marshall:
This kid is a super sleeper after playing in the shadow of Chase and Jefferson at LSU. He is a smooth criminal when it comes to playing the WR position and has great size.
- CB Tyson Campbell:
The Georgia product is one of the better available CBs left on the board. Could very well find his way onto the roster in 2021.
- EDGE: Ronnie Perkins:
Would love to get the motor the Ronnie Provides. I could even see him playing OLB in certain packages.
- EDGE: Boogie Basham:
I really like what Basham provides as he can play all over the DL. He is a fierce competitor and has a mean streak. A guy that could be very versatile up front for the 49ers.
- CB Ifeatu Melifonwu:
I am a big Meli guy but maybe there is a chance the 49ers could trade back and still get the massive CB. Great size and even better movement skills.
- OL Sam Cosmi:
I am a big fan of Sam since he was a Sophomore playing for the Texans. He is massive and moves extremely well for his size and would fit Kyle's zone-scheme great.
- OL Dillon Radunz:
The 49ers could bring in Trey Lance left tackle from NDSU as the lineman trained with Joe Staley this offseason. Based on all the connections, I could totally see this happening.
- S Richie Grant:
The Grant hive is buzzin if he is the pick here. A versatile DB who can play CB and S. He would be able to contribute day 1 to the defense.
- WR Dymai Brown:
Another under the radar guy who could truly grow into a #1 WR at the NFL level.
Top Targets for 102
- OL Kendrick Green:
One of my favorite prospects in the entire class, he would be a steal here. Would love to see Green in red & Gold.
- WR Amari Rodgers: An absolute stud at the Senior Bowl, Rodgers has the exact skillset that Kyle typically looks for in WRs. He would be a great fit to the team.
- RB/WR Demtric Felton:
The UCLA product took over the Senior Bowl as he made his transition from college RB to NFL WR prospect. He has special movement skills that could be deadly out of the slot. Kyle would have lots of fun with him.
- CB Robert Rochell:
An FCS kid with tons of potential. He has really good size and movement skills that allow him to stick to WRs in coverage. Would love this pick here.
- S Jevon Holland:
The Oregon standout could find himself slide a bit and the 49ers could stop his free fall. He would be a great piece to put behind Tartt/Ward to develop.
- WR Cade Johnson:
Another FCS kid, Cade was really fun to watch and speak to at the Senior Bowl. A kid who has had to earn everything, he provides a solid skillset at WR.
- OLD/S Divine Deablo: One of my favorite prospects throughout the entire process, Deablo would be amazing on this defense. He can play both safety and outside linebacker and would be a great chess piece for DeMeco Ryans.
- WR Amon-Ra St. Brown:
If he is available here, I am running the card to the podium. I think he is one of the most underrated prospects in this class and is another WR that can do it all. Wn over the top, over the middle, it doesn't matter.
- RB Michael Carter:
A smaller back but he packs a real punch. He has the ability to make defenders miss in the open feel while also being able to run in-between the tackles. He would be another great chess piece.
- LB Chazz Surratt:
The North Carolina LB reminds me so much of when I scouted Fred Warner out of BYU. They are both superb athletes that move sideline to sideline with the best of them. He would be great to add to the LB room to learn behind All Pro Fred.
- RB Kenneth Gainwell: I could definitely see Kyle liking what Gainwell provides from a traits standpoint. He is an extremely versatile back who put up a lot of production in college. I would really like this pick.
- WR Dwayne Eskridge:
A WR who is another speedster that would slot in well in-between Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.
- CB Benjamin St-Juste:
I have mocked the Minnesota multiple times to the 49ers and could see him being a fantastic fit for the 49ers defense. Would be a great depth piece that could develop into a starter.
- WR Austin Watkins:
One of the most underrated players in this class out of UAB, Austin Watkins could be a real difference maker if he lands in the right spot. He has true #1 WR upside.
