You can see that Ingram didn't contribute much to the Chargers in 2020 after only playing in 7 games and recording 10 total tackles. Ingram found himself on IR after week 11 with a knee injury. The lack of production combined with age and cost is likely why he is still available.
With the status of Dee Ford a bit up in the air and DE Jordan Willis getting suspended for the first 6-games of the year, I could definitely see the 49ers add more depth at the edges via free agency.
Ingram is a natural LEO but could also play the Big End role in the 49ers' wide-9 scheme. He brings versatility with him by being able to kick down to the 3-Technique and play over the guards. He could be a great addition to spell Bosa or Sosa in the rotation and I player I would personally prefer over guys like Dion Jordan and Ezekiel Ansah.
The 49ers will indeed need to see contributions from the depth of this defensive line in 2021, as this has historically been the case.
Ingram could be a nice piece to add heading into camp.
