Highlights From Justin Fields Pro Day

Brad Graham • March 30, 2021

Ohio State QB Justin Fields blew away viewers with his stellar pro day performance.

From my perspective, Justin Fields did exactly what he needed to do with his pro day to smash some of the narratives that have been floated by some media members over the last few months.

Is Justin Fields a perfect prospect, no. I think that is what is so exciting for me personally. You see opportunities for him to continue to get better by tightening up some technical aspects in his throwing motion, but even still, you can see how natural of a thrower Fields is and how accurate he is when he is on.

What we saw today were the same things that you can see in his tape. He is a naturally gifted athlete with a strong arm, not to mention he ran a 4.43 40-yard dash which is faster than other mobile NFL QBs like Russell Wilson and Cam Newton.

Here are some of the better throws from today's session with Justin Fields:

It's safe to say that Justin Fields dominated his pro day.

Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch are headed from Alabama where they watched Mac Jones and flying direct to Ohio to meet with Justin Fields. The details of what will happen durning this meeting are unclear as it was reported that Justin Fields would hold another throwing session for the 49ers.

As a Justin Fields truther myself, today was a great day. Fields has taken a lot of unfair hits off the field, dating back to last season and today is a reminder of how talented he truly is.

Now, there are a legitimate questions regarding who goes number 2 overall to the Jets. With the extremely strong connection between the Jets and Kyle Shanahan's offensive scheme, it is logical to think the Jets could take Fields at #2 as their staff has the same familiarity with Fields that Shanahan has.

It now seemingly feels like it's either Justin Fields or Zach Wilson at #3 for the 49ers.

Only time will tell.
