Former 49ers WR Trent Taylor Signs With Bengals

Brad Graham • May 17, 2021

Trent Taylor appears to be headed for Cincinnati, per his Instagram.

Trent Taylor once showed promise as being a serious threat from the slot position before injuries seemingly derailed his rise to the starting lining up.

During the 2019 offseason, all reports that came out of camp would indicate that Trent Taylor was having an amazing offseason, even getting MVP talk of the entire camp based on his performance but was never able to see the field in 2019.

Unfortunately, Taylor broke his foot towards the end of camp and dealt with complications throughout the year, needing multiple surgeries.

Trent Taylor burst onto the scene in 2017 as a rookie when he was instrumental in the 5 game winning streak the 49ers saw to end their season. Jimmy Garoppolo would find Trent early and often and led many to believe this was just the beginning of a blossoming career.

Unfortunately, injuries seem to have been the nail in the coffin for Trent Taylor and his future with the 49ers.

Trent Taylor indicated to me a couple months back that he would not be returning to the 49ers but made it very clear that he had the upmost respect for John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan and was not leaving on bitter terms.

Trent went on to say that he had "mad respect for those guys" when talking about Kyle and John.

Who knows, maybe there is a path where we see Trent Taylor around the 49ers again sometime in the future. But until then, we wish him nothing but the best as he moves on to a new team and a new city.
