If you swiped right on the instagram post above, you can see that the 49ers have a "big-armed QB that can deliver the deep ball" as Julio Jones suggests, on this roster.
However, we don't know if Trey Lance will start in 2021 as the 21 year old signal caller hasn't played a real football game since 2019.
Right now it appears Jimmy Garoppolo is headed towards a week one start as it stands today. It's seems pretty clear that there will be a strong competition at the QB position between the rookie and veteran once training camp is underway. I believe this year more than ever for the 49ers, preseason performances matter at the QB position.
Although this report from Julio Jones seems very specific in what Julio requires in order to facilitate a trade, there are so many differentiating factors that go into how a trade is facilitated that I can't imagine this being much of a factor when the smoke clears.
I would assume the superstar wants to go a to a team that he is familiar with in regards to system and staff. An offense that he knows he can be successful in. A squad assembled with great depth on both sides of the football with veteran leadership that is built to go far into the playoffs.
Kind of sounds like the 49ers doesn't it?
Julio Jones has had some of his best years of production under Kyle Shanahan's coaching. In fact, he has put up absolutely massive numbers while working in Kyle's offense.
I believe that the 49ers are at the top of Julio Jones' list but that much more will need to go into the trade for him to land at his top destination. There are multiple levels that need to come together in a trade, such as compensation and salary breakdowns/payouts/cap hit.
That will likely be the ultimate deciding factors in Julio Jones being traded away from the Falcons, especially to an NFC team like the 49ers. There is no real timeline on this situation. June 1st was the activator in regards to making Jones available but this situation could play out all the way into training camp.
It will be a very interesting situation to monitor for the next couple weeks.
