49ers' Jimmie Ward Says No NFL Tight End Can Get Over 50 Yards On Him

Brad Graham • July 1, 2021

Ward has put the entire league on notice.

Jimmie Ward has always been an outspoken player about his ability and rightfully so.

Ward has cemented himself as one of the top safeties in the league, however going unnoticed seemingly by the entire NFL. During a down year in 2020, Ward was one of the bright spots on the team and blossomed further into his role on the backend of the defense.

Ward took to Instagram and ranked NFL tight ends by what they could accomplish on him in man-to-man coverage. As you can see by his list below, he's shutting down the entire league and I believe him.

Clearly, Ward is ready to compete in 2021. Good call by Ward to pay respect the People's Tight End.

Ward wasn't done with just the top 10

Got your popcorn?

Jimmie Ward wants all this smoke this year.

One of the things I have come to admire about Jimmie Ward is his confidence. It's an angry type of confidence that does not come across as cocky at all.

After watching Jimmie Ward for years now, the man wants his flowers and I don't blame him. He's earned them on this team.

Ward has done something I am not sure I have seen in the NFL since I started covering it in 2010, surviving multiple coaching fires and GMs. That is something that is so immensely underrated about Ward. Speaks to the person he is as well as the player.

The man survived Trent Baalke, John Lynch, Chip Kelly, Jim Tomsula, and Kyle Shanahan and a bunch of different defensive coordinators and schemes and is still on the 49ers, making him the current longest tenured player on the team. This all plays into Ward's mentality on and off the field.

I think it's time to give this man his flowers.
